I love books, so does my husband. I worked in a book shop for several years, and the bookshelves in our house are on the verge of collapse under the weight of all the books we own. I can’t bring myself to get rid of any. Our son seems to have inherited our love of books, which is great! I don’t think a child can ever have too many books. Here’s a few which I think are excellent:
This book is really good for when your child asks you questions like ‘What are stars made of?’. It explains things in a clear, simple way, and the text is easy to read.
I recently bought this for our little boy, he loves it. Especially the section on Volcanoes! This book is full of lovely pictures (including maps and charts), and the text is very easy to read and understand. I think he will be using this book for quite a few years. Will be great for helping with homework when he starts Primary School.
I got this book a couple of years ago, when our child was about a year old (mainly because I love Star Trek!). It’s a very silly book, but I love it! It basically uses pictures from the original series of Star Trek to illustrate opposites, like near/far etc. It makes a nice change from the usual books for young children.
This book is excellent for you and your child to read together. The stickers are stuck over an illustration, so it’s easy to see which stickers go on each page, then there is information on each dinosaur (as well as a guide to pronunciation of the name of the dinosaur, which is very handy!).
This is a delightful book, the story is lovely and imaginative, and the illustrations are adorable. It’s a story about a little boy who travels into space and crashes onto the Moon, where he meets a friendly alien. I won’t tell you the rest of the story, I don’t want to ruin it for you! I’ve read this book to our little boy so many times, and he still really enjoys it.
The dinosaurs were all wiped out by the mighty pants war, according to this book. This is a really well written, funny book. It’s easy to read, the illustrations are great and most children will love it, especially if they like dinosaurs! This is another book I’ve read about a million times, and still get asked to read it again.
This is a lovely, funny story about a robot who manages to lose his bottom, and then has to go on a search to find it again. Who wouldn’t enjoy a story like that?
I love this book. The illustrations are nice and colourful, and the story is about a dragon who is the keenest student at dragon school, he befriends a princess who wants to be a Doctor. It’s really entertaining and easy to read.
